LIST OF STORES RELATED LINKS

  • Silver Wings Store - items being sold in support of the WASP WWII Museum being proposed to be built in Sweetwater, Texas on Avenger Field, the original training facility for the WASP
  • EAA's Oshkosh AirVenture - the grand airshow in Oshkosh Wisconsin where the WASP have manned a tent for years, and the WASP Stores have traditionally been held

The WASP Stores began back in 1963 . . . or was that 1973 . . . anyway, it was a while ago, when I was just knee-high to B-26 Martin Marauder aircraft tire, . . . but that's another story. The Story of Stores will just have to wait a more knowledgeable telling. What I want to relate to you is that the WASP Stores, which were really developed, expanded and successful under the leadership of Florence G. "Shutsy" Reynolds, have been torched, or rather the torch has been passed to a new generation, lazier but well-meaning, with lots of enthusiasm but virtually no time, to attempt carry on the tradition as follows:

MISSION: To make available to the public information, books, photographs, maps, videos and other materials to expand the awareness of the story of the Womens' Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) who served their country with distinction during World War II, as pilots trained in the "U.S. Army Way" to fly in support of of the war effort.

In October 2004, at the WASP National Reunion, a group of persons including many children and family members of the WASP, gathered together to organize a support organization for the WASP, and obtained the approval of the WASP at their annual business meeting to do so. One of the various projects will be the maintenance and continuation of the WASP Stores effort. This website is a part of that effort.

In the meantime, until this site can offer more details, we will attempt to list and link to sites that have WASP materials that you may obtain. If you know of another link we can add, please send an email to "stores" at fifinella.com.
